Foodie Forum 2012

On Thursday Febuary the 2nd, one of the most inspiring and comprehensive foodie events to reach Ireland will be in progress in GMIT. If you go to only one foodie event this Spring it needs to be this one.

The event has been lovingly planned by three fellow twitterati. All three are lecturers in GMIT's Hotel School, Cormac Handy (@TheHandyKitchen), Colin Gilligan (@cogi1792) and Jacinta Dalton (@jcdal).

                                                         Cormac, Colin and Jacinta.

Rather than your typical food festival this event is set to be an interactive experience where visitors can mingle with and learn from some of the countries best chefs and industry leading experts. Along with the experienced chefs visitors will also get to enjoy the experience of meeting and learning with suppliers and producers. This ranges from micro-brewing, butchery to wine matching and many more.

The main aspiration the three organisers have is to educate and get people interested in Irish food, through knowledge about local suppliers and what food is in season. This will start with an indoor (no need for the brolly!) food market where you will be able to pick up all the goodies your heart desires and will end with a dining extravaganza, prepared by Hotel School Lectures and Students, showcasing these ingredients.

So if like me, you cannot get enough of this concept, register your interest here or call Margaret on 091 742249 for payment.
Tickets are on sale until January 20th. Tickets to enter the event are €10 or for only €35 you get entry and also the dinner. If you are a student, bring along you Student ID to avoid the €10 entry fee.

And if I haven't convinced you enough click here to see the full line up of the days events.
For any more information you can contact the guys on their twitter accounts (@thefoodieforum, @TheHandyKitchen, @cogil1792, and @jcdal) or their Facebook page TheFoodieForum.
